Are You Drinking Enough Water? The Benefits of Drinking Alkaline Water

The thirst is so real when hydrating your body with the best liquid options. And by best, I mean water! We’ve embarked on another #drankmowaterchallenge and I thought it would be a good idea to break down the benefits of (my favorite) alkaline water.

We all know my story with water – we’ve had a love/hate relationship, but now we can’t stay away from one another. I always have a bottle of water with me and when I’m out I have to have a glass of water at my table. It doesn’t last long because like I said before, the thirst is real.

Alkaline water has saved my life tremendously. It’s cleared my skin and has helped boost my energy. Did I mention it tastes great too! I’m sure there are a few of you out there wondering how can water taste like anything, but it’s true. The nutrients and value in alkaline water is impeccable and I suggest everyone grab at least one bottle to turn their lives around.

Let’s start off with the basics:

What is alkaline water?

According to Healthline, alkaline water has a higher pH level than regular drinking water. With normal drinking water generally having a neutral pH of 7, alkaline water typically has a pH of 8 or 9.

I’m sure you’re wondering why are these numbers even important, because I did too. The pH levels in water measures how acidic or alkaline a substance is on a scale of 0 to 14. The closer to a level 1 pH, the more acidic something may be. The closer to 14 means that something is very alkaline based.

Aiming to consume alkaline water during our challenge just might be the wave.

Now onto its benefits. There hasn’t been a tremendous amount of research conducted to prove all of alkaline water benefits, but its proposed health benefits are what keep people attracted to it.

These benefits include:

      Immune system support

      Weight loss

      Colon-cleansing properties

      Hydration

      Skin health and other detoxifying properties

Alkaline water’s refreshing taste is what keeps us running back to it, but any water in general will help keep our thirst buds at bay.

Our goal throughout the challenge is to reap the benefits of consuming water on a daily basis. I learned so much about my body last year and was able to see the change in my appearance and mentality and can’t wait to see what this year’s outcome will be.
