The holidays are my absolute favorite time of year! Spending time with my family, watching our favorite movies, and wrapping gifts is something I look forward to every year. But this year I wanted to do something different. I wanted to utilize my resources and network to bring Christmas joy to the children at the West Valley Boys and Girls Club.
I’d been mulling over ideas when I was contacted by Erin, Marketing Director at Westfield Topanga Canyon Shopping Center. She wanted to assist in curating the perfect charitable event, and I couldn’t have been happier. The timing was perfect! Erin saw my commitment to philanthropy and event hosting, which made working together that much easier. I wanted this to be purposeful and having her there to help make things run smoothly.
On Monday, December 18th, the Saffold and Whitworth families of the L.A. Rams took over the brand new shopping suite at the beloved shopping center. The night’s mission was to give back in a fun way. And that’s exactly what we did!
My husband Rodger Saffold and teammate Andrew Whitworth were supportive of the event from the start. They are dedicated to making impacts both on and off the field, so having their support meant the world to me. Rodger is a long-time supporter of the Boys and Girls Club, while Andrew recently gifted students in the local community with bicycles.
It warmed my heart seeing other members of the Rams family take time out of their busy schedules to give back so generously. The public isn’t always aware of the service these players dedicate to their communities, and I’m glad I had a hand in showcasing this moment.
The event allowed for those last minute shoppers, myself included, to purchase a few luxury items to gift to our loved ones. A percentage of the evenings’ sales were donated to the West Valley Boys and Girls Club.
One of my favorite retailers, Nordstrom, was so generous to donate $2500! I can’t thank them enough and I’m sure the children at the club will appreciate it as well.
There was literally something for everyone. Attendees were able to choose from an array of exclusive luxury items from the store, which were wrapped and ready for delivery. The service was phenomenal.
It was no secret that Rodger’s favorite retailer was Microsoft. He alongside his teammates were able to test out of few of the company’s new virtual reality gaming systems. The fun enticed purchases of computers, the new Xbox gaming console and of course the VR system.
Everyone walked away with gift bags from timeless jewelers, Tiffany’s & Co. Attendees walked away with a pair of comfy socks and other Tiffany’s trinkets. The girly-girl in me couldn’t stop drooling over the tea set. It was so cute! I’m still wrapping my mind around how well everything came together!
On behalf of my incredible support system, we’d like to thank everyone involved: players, friends, catering staff, photographer Jennifer Johnson, videographer Jordan Tucker, Nordstrom, Microsoft, Tiffany’s & Co., and Westfield Topanga Canyon Shopping Center. This holiday experience was such a dope event, and I can’t wait to do it all over again with each and every one of you!
Looking forward to hosting future events with purpose at the Westfield Topanga Canyon gift suite!
Ps. Words alone aren’t enough to describe how amazing of an evening it was. Take a look at the full recap video below for the complete run down.
