It’s no secret that my family enjoys untraditional Christmas photos. After all, we are a group of very untraditional people. When it comes to traditions like marriage, birthdays, holidays, and raising kids, we like to do things our own way!

For our photos this year, instead of posing next to our Christmas tree in matching outfits, I wanted to plan a photoshoot that would showcase our spirit. Ever since we moved to Los Angeles, we’ve been enjoying chic red carpet events, upscale restaurants, and a whole lot of cameras! You name it, we’ve probably experienced it. And while we are a pretty laidback bunch, it’s no secret that we’ve been dressing up and exploring our new city!

Among the restaurants we’ve tried so far (and we’ve tried a lot of delicious restaurants here in LA), one of our favorites is right in our backyard. You may have seen The Villa of Woodland Hills on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and you can catch me there on the second episode of Hollywood & Football. This restaurant offers tasty Italian and American meals and really good cocktails. (My favorite is the Strawberry Fields. It’s so good.) They also serve a really awesome weekend brunch!

What does this place have to do with the 2016 Saffold Family Christmas Photos? Well, the manager was gracious enough to let us take our photos onsite before we sat down for an early supper. I booked April Keogh of April Belle Photos for our shoot this year. She is a super-talented lifestyle and family photography based in Miami, Florida. She travels to other cities quite often, and I’m glad I caught her while she was in California!

It was a genuine struggle to get the four of us to look at the camera at the same time, and the kids weren’t in the mood for photos. That said, we still managed to get some great shots! It’s so important to take family photos so you can watch yourselves grow together! Make every photoshoot unique and special so that when you and your family see the photos, you can reflect on all the loving memories you share!
