Do you ever stop to take a look at your life and reflect on your blessings? Lately I’ve been filled with so much gratitude, as the Lord has been showering me with His many blessings.
“The moment I decided I was going to take control of my own life and start being purposeful in discovering my God-given gifts and talents, and using them to glorify His kingdom, was the minute things really started to turn around for me. I am now clearer in who I am, where I’m going, and what God’s promises are for me!”
My path has never been straight forward in life, but who’s really is? I’ve always gone through soaring peaks and low valleys. What’s been consistent, however, is my faith, and my ability to grow from my circumstances and push forward stronger and better than before. As my husband says, I’m like fine wine, getting better and better with time.
Last year, the Lord brought me to a point where I was forced to make a decision. I could either stay complacent in life, or step outside my comfort zone and take a leap of faith into a more abundant life. Don’t get me wrong here — aside from the trials that we all go through, my life pre-revelation was pretty good. I was blessed with a loving husband, two amazing kids, financial comfort, great friends, and so much more. I didn’t have a lot to complain about, but something was telling me that there was more out there for me to discover. And sure enough, right as I was thinking about taking a major leap of faith, the Lord came through with impeccable timing. In the spring of 2016, the Rams organization decided to uproot from St. Louis and take its talents to Los Angeles; and with that came a major move for the Saffold crew, both literally and figuratively! At the time, I didn’t realize how much this move, which truly came out of left field, would ignite my fire.
Almost as soon as the announcement was made, changes in our lives began to occur, and opportunity came knocking. Some of these opportunities were new and intimidating, and even flat-out scary, but I had a feeling God was opening the door for some amazing things.
Deciding to do a reality show, and sharing parts of my life that I would have otherwise kept private, was one of the first steps in unlocking my gift, although I didn’t know it at the time. That sounds kind of strange, I know, but it forced me to really think about what kind of trace I want to leave on this world, and what legacy I want to leave for my own kids.
Getting on a reality show and exposing myself on national — actually, international television was difficult, but the real challenge came a little later. I had to figure out where I would go from there. I had finally listened to a calling that I had previously ignored — a calling in the back of my head to explore the world of blogging. Deciding to create a blog with basically no knowledge of anything pertaining to it? Now that was hard! I’ve never been much of a writer, and when I first started my blog I knew nothing about the technicalities of blogging, photography, or developing a personal brand and business. I must say, the odds were stacked against me!
Although there was so much that could have stopped me from embarking on this new journey, I chose to focus on what I have to offer. For example:
– I’m passionate, especially about things that interest me.
– I have the financial means to invest in my blog. #blessed #thankful
– I’ve got no shortage in the way of life experiences, which gives me tons of content to share.
– I have a purpose to fulfill, connect, and encourage other like-minded women. When you think about it, we really are more alike than we are different. And together, we can make a world of difference.
It took me about six months to get everything up and running with my brand. That sounds like a long time, but man, it really flew by — especially considering that I was devoting almost 50 hours a week to developing “Hollywood & Football.” But ultimately, I’m so happy I put the work in and made the decision to launch my brand, because everything I’ve gained in the process has been so gratifying! I now have my very own brand and website, and a platform to display God’s light and emit positivity into the world!
Since I launched my brand, I’ve been blessed with so many opportunities to connect with other individuals, brands, and businesses with similar goals and visions. Not even three months into the game, I’ve already been offered some small endorsement deals, invitations to exclusive networking events, and even features on other blogs and magazines! The best part by far is reading my viewers’ comments — you guys, I’m so grateful for your support. When you tell me how much my words and actions mean to you, I know I really am standing in my purpose!
And now…the Launch.
I was so fortunate to be able to partner with Neiman Marcus of Beverly Hills and SET Magazine to host the official launch event of The Balanced Mom! This exclusive shopping event was nothing short of perfect! Crystal Woo, a designer handbag consultant at Neiman Marcus curated an amazing set up of the most exclusive pieces of the season for both women and men. Please guys, if you’re ever in Los Angeles, and you want to do a little shopping, check her out! Danisha Rolle, of SET magazine, provided amazing gifts bags packed with useful products that our guests were actually excited to leave with! The sounds were provided by well-known DJ and Wilhemina model, DJ Millie. There were passed small bites, and no party is complete without champagne! I’m not much of a public speaker, but I had the chance to speak to everyone and introduce them to my brand and blog. I explained how I created my site to be a go-to point of contact and resource especially for women who are actively creating and pursuing the perfect balance for their lives. Overall, the event was a great success, and I left feeling very confident and excited for all that is to come!
Absolutely none of this would have been possible without the love and support of God, my family, and some rock-star professionals who have helped me along the way! My friends Courtney Couch and Charisse Curtis of Cluxe Brand Management, my photographer Melissa Daley, my cousin/creative consultant/graphic designer Karly Golston, Danisha Rolle of SET Magazine, and so many others have guided me on my journey. Thank you all for believing in me, and helping me to bring my ideas to life!
And to everyone who has supported my new brand, through words of encouragement, brainstorming sessions (y’all know I love those), or engagement and subscriptions, I want you to know that nothing goes unnoticed! Also, please know that this is just the beginning, and we’re only going to grow from here! So let’s #glowup together, because bringing one another up only strengthens us! I will do my duty and lift others by sharing the brands and businesses I believe can make a difference. I will conduct in-depth interviews with women who have so much value to share, and give some insights from my personal experience with family, fitness, food, fun, and everything involved in this balancing act we call life!
Stay tuned for more, don’t forget to subscribe to the blog, and follow me on instagram! I have some super exciting projects that I’m working on and that will be coming soon. Until then, many blessings!
